Bored for Jesus

I know that this sounds kind of funny coming on the heals on my post about use of powerepoint in worship. My friend Kate (Kate's blog) really helped me recenter worship. We talk about how we love Jesus, how we would do anything based on our love for God. Would you be bored for God? To risk sounding trite, it isn't about me. Worship of God doesn't require that I am entertained. It doesn't require my approval.

It is a harsh thing to say. It reminds me of the song Audience of One. God's glory is magnified by worship, even worship that doesn't "move me."

I would also contend that it is our responsibility to try to find a way to participate in worship, even when it is not our first inclination. It also makes me look forward to a point in time when all of creation will gather before the throne of God, united in a single song of praise to God.

PS - The spell checker on blogger doesn't recognize the word "blog," silly right?

have you forgotten rap worship at urbana already? ;)

and we've talked about this before, i'm sure. it's not about contemporary being better or traditional/liturgical being better. there is no better, just human preference. but above and beyond that, true worshipers will worship no matter what form the true worship takes.
