has a simple message: As a non-profit, non-partisan organization, Redeem the Vote aims to reach Americas young people of faith and engage them into the 2004 election where voters will determine the direction of cultural issues that impact their lives. Redeem the Vote has a simple goal: Increase voter registration and voter turnout by young people of faith all across the nation.
I just don't get it. Do we have to imitate everything that appears in the secular world? I think that we risk doing serious danger to our mission if we, as Christians, insist on segregating ourselves every chance we get. It isn't a sin to associate with a secure organization or movement. Please understand that I love the cause. I think that everyone should vote. I think it is a shame that less than 50% of 18-25 year olds are even registered to vote. As of this posting there are 81 days until the election. I don't want to make this into a political discussion on my blog, but let me say this: I would rather someone vote against me than not vote at all.

you're right, it's terrible that we're imitating the world. i mean, shouldn't we be setting the pace? why was there rock the vote before there was redeem the vote? shouldn't redemption have come first?
does the church have a siege mentality? are we the ones under attack, on the defensive, waiting and praying and hoping that Christ comes before things get too bad? to use LOTR analogies (go see the movies, dave. there's lots in there for people of faith), are we the besieged in Helm's Deep, anxiously and fearfully awaiting sunrise on the third day, praying that we can hold the keep till Gandalf comes? or shall we be as King Theoden and Aragorn, and sally forth to fight, to charge, to lift high the royal banner that it might not suffer loss?
btw, i'm not kieran. ;)
