New Translation of the Bible

In service of the public interest, I wanted to let everyone know about a new translation of the Pentateuch (that's the first 5 books of the Bible, for you non-seminary types.) It is by Robert Alter, a professor at UC Berkley. It is his mission in this new translation to recapture the Hebrew imagery and worldview which are a part of the Hebrew, but are often lost in the English translation.
I don't know enough about it to endorse or condemn it, but you can educate yourself:

Read the CNN review.
