This weekend Trinity's flag football team traveled to Gettysburg Seminary for the Lutherbowl. On Tuesday there was a fire on Gettysburg's campus which destroyed one of the seminary's houses and nearly everything inside. Everyone escaped unharmed, but not much survived the fire. Trinity's team spent Friday night in a basement rec room of one of the other dorms. While we were settling in for the evening, Nathan, a seminarian from Gettysburg dropped by and offered us use of his room for showering, food, or just general hanging out. This was particularly gracious since he was headed out and would not be around to keep an eye on things.
The thing that really makes this story special is that Nathan was one of those displaced by the fire. Only a few days ago nearly everything he had in the world turned to ash. One cannot help but think, "How could someone to have such a giving spirit?" What a great witness to the life to which Christians are called.
